The Bagher Lab visited the Kennedy Space Center Visitor’s Center in Titusville, Florida. The group was able to visit the retired Atlantis Shuttle, see the Astronaut Hall of Fame and a Saturn V rocket!

Bagher Lab at Kennedy Space Center
The Bagher Lab and colleagues spent time at Kennedy Space Center in Titusville, Florida to perform experiments as a part of the Rodent Research-9 Mission. Our group examined coronary artery and basilar artery function following spaceflight. Find out more about the mission here.

New Paper in Journal of Physiology
The Bagher Lab and collaborators at the University of Oxford published a paper entitled, “VEGF‐A inhibits agonist‐mediated Ca2+ responses and activation of IKCa channels in mouse resistance artery endothelial cells.” This work was funded in part by a British Heart Foundation Grant to Drs. Norman Frederick Receives an Honorable Mention for his NSF Grant!
We would like to congratulate second year graduate student, Norman Frederick, for receiving an Honorable Mention for his 2018 National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship application. There were over 12,000 applications, and only 2,000 were selected for funding an additional 1,459 students were selected for Honorable Mention. The applications were reviewed by the NSF Merit Review Criteria of Intellectual Merit and Broader Impacts. Congratulations again to Norm for receiving this nationally recognized academic achievement!
Gulf Coast Vascular Research Consortium
Dr. Pooneh Bagher and Norman Frederick attended the Gulf Coast Vascular Research Consortium Conference in College Station, Texas on March 23-24, 2018. Dr. Bagher gave a talk on the changes in coronary artery function following spaceflight in mice, and Norm presented the associated poster.
Tulane University Health Science Center Department of Pharmacology Seminar Presentation
Dr. Pooneh Bagher was recently invited by Dr. Prasad Katakam to present at Tulane University Health Science Center in New Orleans. Her presentation was a part of the Department of Pharmacology weekly seminar series. Dr. Bagher presented her groups work for NASA’s Rodent Research mission. Her talk was entitled, “Spaceflight Induces Subtle Changes in Mouse Coronary Artery Function.”
2018 NASA Human Research Program Investigators’ Workshop
Second year graduate student Norman Frederick presenting data obtained as a part of the Rodent Research-9 mission to the International Space Station at the 2018 NASA Human Research Program Investigators’ Workshop held January 21-26th, 2018 in Galveston, Texas. Norm’s presentation was entitled, “Spaceflight Induces Subtle Changes in Mouse Coronary Artery Function.”
